We understand that colors can play a factor in representation. This is very true for the colors of horses depicted in two separate visions. Zechariah of the Old Testament had the same vision of four horses just as John did in the New Testament Book of Revelation.
- Zechariah 6:1 - And I turned and lifted up mine eyes and looked and behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.
Color plays a significant role in the representation of these visions. As you can see according to Zechariah's vision, these horses are spirits.
- Zechariah 6:5 - And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country.
Now that we have established what these four horsemen represent, let's take a closer look at their colors and what they each represent.
- Zechariah 6:2 - In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot, black horses.
- Revelation 6:4 - And there went out another horse that was red; and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another; and there was given him a great sword.
Did you know that there is a worldwide spirit that is considered the "red" power? If you haven't already guessed, consider communism and socialism. Even Communist China is known as "Red China". The Soviets are called "Reds".
-Revelation 6:5 - And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, come and see. And I beheld and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
Does trade and commerce ring a bell? The balances are symbolic of trade and commerce. This spirit undoubtedly signifies Capitalism. If you ever pay any attention to the news or politics, you will notice that both capitalism and democracy are also known as the "black power".
- Zechariah 6:3 - And in the third chariot white horses and in the forth chariot grisled and bay horses.
- Revelation 6:2 - And I saw and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow, and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth conquering and to conquer.
White has always represented peace. The significant spirit of peace in the land today would be the Roman Catholic church and her attempts to create world peace. This is part of the One World Religion as well. Furthermore, not only does the pope wear white, he rides in a white helicopter and airplane. Surely he'd be riding on a white horse.
- Revelation 6:8 - And I looked and behold a pale horse...
(pale in Hebrew is green)
... and his name that say on him was death and Hell followed with him. And power was given onto them over the forth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger and with death and with the beasts of the earth.
What spirit do you suppose can be considered green? I will give you a hint: their flag is green and they are a very present and significant source of international power.
Islam
Breakdown:
Red - Communism - China
Black - Capitalism - Balances
White - Peace - Roman Catholic Church
Pale (green) - death and Hell - Islam
These are the four colored horses or four significant international spirits.
